TURNING MASSE TOURISM INTO GREEN ENERGY

Urban project realized with the University of Barcelona and the municipality of Lloret de mare as part of the EMU master's program.

Once a small fishing village, Lloret de Mar is today one of the most popular seaside resorts on the Catalan coast.

The massive and uncontrolled urbanization, which follows the only logic of the speculation on the price to the summer rent, is partly responsible for the degradation of the natural environment and the historical center.

The local administration intends to transfer the town hall, build sports facilities and housing on the proposed site at the entrance of the city.

The project proposes to create an eco-district and to rethink the soft mobility in the city to connect it to a regional greenway that connects the Pyrenees, the Garrotxa Park and the coast. Thus, a more eco-friendly type of tourism could develop.
